| Paulding County is located about 30 miles NW of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains includes the Cities of Hiram, and Dallas which is the county seat of Paulding County. Dallas was founded on May 14, 1852 and was named after George Dallas, the Vice President of the United States under President James Polk. Prior to its settlement,
it was a crossroads of Cherokee Indians having an abundance of natural springs. Dallas was the site of heavy fighting during the Atlanta Campaign of the Civil War where the Confederate forces held firm in Dallas, New Hope Church, and Pickett's Mill, forcing the Union Army towards Kennesaw. Pickett's Mill Historical Site is said to be one of the best preserved Civil War battlefield in America. Paulding County has an abundance of well-preserved historical homes, and along with close proximity of a collection of museums and parks such as Marietta Museum of History, Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Root House Museum and the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Paulding County is a quaint and forward looking bedroom community in the NW Atlanta Metro area. It has earned the reputation as a great place to live, to do business, has a good business infrastructure, good transportation having access to I-75, I-285, Highway 278, and I-20, and has a wide range of shopping, affordable housing, and possesses reasonable taxes with special tax breaks.
